The P958-X1 prototype was hand-built by Frua in Turin an a VOLVO Amazon chassis and it differs in many respects from the final production version: the rear number plate recess, the rear valance exhaust pipe openings, the fuel filier cap, the scuttle air intake and the VOLVO badge at the front. And of course the vinyl interior.

The car's original colour was actually blue metallic and since it has never been restored, small sections of this paint is still visible inside the car. lt was resprayed by VOLVO in the 1960s when it was sold but is in all other respects untouched.

The car is temporarily fitted with a B18 engine in order to be driveable but a fully-restored B16B waits in the garage and will soon replace it.
